Wortley FC score a hat trick of representative call ups

Six players from three different age groups from Wortley FC have been selected to play in their respective league representative squad for the 2008/2009 season.

Wortley FC first team player Dale Dodsworth has been selected to represent the club in the Yorkshire Old Boys League representative side.

Dale capped a fine performance with a well taken goal playing for the Yorkshire Old Boys League representative side against last years senior A champions Ealandians in a charity shield game.

The Yorkshire Old Boys League representative side ran out 5-0 winners and Dale is the first Wortley Football Club player to have the honour of representing the club in the representative league team.

First team coach Tony Carney said: "If we keep progressing the club in the right direction, it will be only a matter of time before more players are selected for the representative team."

Four members of Wortley FC's Under 17s Boys team have been selected to represent the Under 17's Leeds & District FA representative team.

Jordan Hey, Sam Ackeroyd, Scott Baines and Ben Danby will play their first representative game of the season against Keighley representative team at Bracken Edge (Yorkshire Amateurs Ground) on Wednesday, November 12, with the return match scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, at Keighley Cougars ground.

Barry Hey, team manager, said: 'This is a great achievement for the players, to be selected to represent the league at this level, congratulations."

Wortley Under 12 Girls team player, Elise Good, has been selected to represent the West Riding Girls League representative side.

Elise has been with the club since she was 7 years old. Under 12 Girls manager Jamie Grand said 'he was very pleased and proud that Elise has been selected and it rounds off a hat trick of representative team successes for the club.

The club congratulates every player for their achievement.
