Wortley FC: Young footballer signs for Leeds United

Young Wortley FC footballer Rhys Jenkinson has hit a new goal in his aim to play professional football by signing a one-year contract for the Leeds United Academy.
The 11-year-old, who plays in right midfield, will be in the Academy under-12s team next season, facing top Premiership Academy teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool.

His father, Steven, of Wadlands Close, Farsley, said: "It's a dream come true for him. We are all very proud. He's worked very, very hard."

A pupil at Springbank Primary School in Farsley, Rhys started playing football with Wortley Boys when he was seven and has also been a member of the Leeds City Boys under-11 squad.

His older brother Luke, 17, another midfielder, plays for Farsley Celtic.
