Wortley badminton ace powers his way to Yorkshire U-14s title treble
Wortley High School pupil Josh Wetherill had plenty of reasons to be cheerful after reigning supreme in the Yorkshire U-14s (closed) badminton competition.
He won all three tournaments that he entered, the boys singles, boys doubles and the mixed doubles, and the victory means he now has the chance to play at U-15s level against rivals as much as 18 months older.
Josh has been playing badminton for just over two years and hasworked hisway up, winning tournaments at U-13s, U-14s and U-15s level through the bronze, silver and gold stages in each age group.
Josh trains three to four times aweek at John Smeaton Leisure Centre in Seacroft, John Charles Centre for Sport and Woodkirk High School
and he also plays on the Badminton England circuit.
He is the current U-14s and U-15s Leeds Schools Boys Singles Badminton champion and his recent victory has lifted him up through the rankings to number 31 at U-15s level.
