A serious house fire has claimed the life of a Wortley resident this morning.
Firefighters and police were called to the house on Lower Wortley Road just after 4.30am today.
Details of the fire were not available this morning and police said they were waiting for specialist fire investigation officers to attend the house.
But a police spokesman today confirmed that the blaze had resulted in a fatality.
They said they were unable to confirm any details concerning the age or sex of the victim.
